Grean World Energy Saving Technology Device Manufacturing PLC is a company established in Ethiopia and engaged in the renewable energy sectors of the country. The company manufactures and distributes ethanol and Mirt stoves (improved cook stoves), distributes ethanol fuels, promotes solar products, gives consultation services related with renewable energy technologies, stimulates demands driven environment with the other stakeholder to increase the penetration rate of the renewable energy products and many more. Grean World aspires in filling the gap between urban based production of mirt stoves and the demand in the rural areas.Creating market infrastructure in the scattered villages in the remote areas is very expensive.
Since creating market infrastructure in the scattered villages in the remote areas is very expensive, we use rural entrepreneurs at the village level, and use their direct knowledge of their communities to distribute products at limited costs. We support and supervise these local entrepreneurs to effectively market our products to their peers while boosting their incomes.
Grean world has mutual agreements with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) who produce mirt stoves. They produce the stoves according to the standard set by the Quality and Standards Authority of Ethiopia (QSAE). Grean World undertakes quality supervision and technical support like consulting on the production process. Grean world will buy the stoves from the manufactures and sales to the end users in rural areas. Grean World is solely responsible for the quality of the distributed stoves and it also gives one year warranty and after sale service.
Rural women of Ethiopia are the backbone of the community and have a deep relationship with forests.
However, because they are not part of community decision making, they are not playing the positive
role they could in rebuilding and protecting ecosystems amid the growing threat of climate change.
As Ethiopia and the rest of the world struggle to adapt to a changing climate and protecting and restoring remaining ecosystems, finding solutions to local problems is key. In Ethiopia that means educating girls and women and including them in decision making, re-using their direct knowledge and establishing local solutions and building new economic systems that take into account the multiple local knowledge for good change and using the energy within them is the solution.
It true that the global community cannot reach its goals of eradicating poverty and ending climate change without addressing the way millions of people cook. Clean cooking can directly deliver gains across 10 of the Sustainable Development Goals, including improving air quality and health, addressing climate change and environmental degradation, empowering women, and catalysing economic growth. If undertaken at scale, access to clean cooking could represent one of the greatest opportunities to improve global public health, mitigate climate change, and advance women’s empowerment.
Grean World work with rural energy entrepreneurs at the village level, and use their direct knowledge of their communities to distribute products at limited costs. We support and supervise these local entrepreneurs to effectively market our products to their peers while boosting their incomes. These entrepreneurs are primarily women that are remunerated to go door-to-door and sell cookstoves, within their communities. We provide them with a free “business in a bag” set that includes uniforms, signs and business promotion materials.
